8th Annual Basic and Clinical Immunology for the Busy Clinician: What Is New and Hot in Immunology
12/09/2019 @ 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
This symposium is designed for busy clinicians who desire to increase their declarative and procedural knowledge in the field of immune-mediated inflammatory diseases (IMIDs), as it applies to modern patient care. The first day of the symposium starts off with a “30,000-foot view” of immune responsiveness, followed by a series of recent advances in innate and adaptive immunity, as well as the immunologic implications of the microbiome. The afternoon session, “What is Hot?” takes a deep dive into the understanding of basic biochemistry/mechanisms of action of current and emerging biologic armamentarium that should improve understanding of clinical applications and predicting/preventing toxicity. The first day will also include a flipped classroom session, which allows participants to meet and discuss their toughest cases across the range of IMIDs and primary immunodeficiency disease with the faculty. The next day will include a session on the immunologic basis for wellness and how to apply it to clinical practice.
